Leo McElroy
Keynote Speaker
President, McElroy Communications

Leo McElroy has served since the inception of the Fire Safe Council as its Membership Coordinator, helping to broaden the number of organizations involved and to facilitate communications between members.

As the president of McElroy Communications, a Sacramento-based public affairs firm, Leo also provides services to other coalitions and professional organizations such as Drive Sober Sacramento, the Sacramento River Watershed Program, the California Association of Realtors, and the Planning and Conservation League.

In addition, McElroy Communications has been active in more than three dozen ballot issue campaigns in California since 1982, helping to develop coalitions, define messages, and deliver those messages to the public.

From 1956 to 1981, Leo was a broadcast newsman and executive for ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS, mostly in Los Angeles, where from 1974 to 1981 he was an investigative reporter, political editor, and weekend anchor for KABC-TV and for the ABC network.

In 1979, Leo and his camera crew were killed by a forest fire in Ventura County. At least, thatıs what the broadcast said. We have it on good authority that they were wrong.
