CALLING ALL CERT TRAINED RESIDENTS!
The AFV&L Fire Safe Council is very excited about local CERT teams forming in all five of our communities. Per the request of the L.A. County Sheriff and L.A. County Fire, the goal is too get as many CERT people in each of the five communities identified and create community maps with important details. Only the Sheriff or Fire Dept. would be calling out the CERT teams to perform minor search and rescue.

There is a large scale CERT event scheduled for March 20th starting at Station 129 on Sixth Street East, near Avenue M. Please call for more details. We need to have drills our areas soon but we hope to have an informal meeting in each community soon.

We are also trying to organize a CERT training class in Green Valley. We need at least 20 people. If you are interested please call us at 270-9911.

We hope you can join us for our Annual Firefighter Appreciation and Disaster Awareness Day on September 11, 2010 at the Leona Valley Community Center from 3 to 6 pm. For more information please call 270-9911

Our Council is currently involved in several Community activities in Green Valley, Leona Valley, Lake Elizabeth, Lake Hughes and Pine Cyn.

We welcome participation from any of these areas in the following projects: Weed and Brush Abatement, Tree Trimming, Sandbagging, Emergency Site Set-up and Manning, Large and Small Animal Evacuation and Elderly/Disabled Evacuation.
